Health advisory after a sweage spill in Okaloosa County has been lifted

NICEVILLE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A health advisory that was issued after a sewage spill in Niceville has been lifted.

According to Okaloosa County Water and Sewer, on August 10th a sewer line at the intersection of Bay Drive and Ward Cove Drive spilled thousands of gallons of sewage, prompting a health advisory regarding water quality.

The health advisory was issued for the Choctawhatchee Bay area from Highway 20 to Sunset Cove in the Blue Water Bay area of incorporated Niceville.

OCWS conducted water sampling and testing, and the affected area tested within the recommended surface water quality standards required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. This allowed the advisory to be lifted.
