Holmes County swears in new sheriff

HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - In a Bonifay courtroom Tuesday, John Tate took the oath of office as Holmes County's new sheriff.

With his family at his side, Sheriff Tate said he achieved a lifetime goal. Law enforcement is also in Sheriff Tate's blood.

"My father was with the sheriff's office for 30 years," he said. "I love law enforcement, I enjoy coming to work everyday, and I'm humble to be the people's sheriff."

The new sheriff says he'll have an open door policy, and his main priority is to ensure public safety.
