JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Some members of Jackson County's law enforcement were honored for their service Tuesday.
The Chipola Civic Club hosted the 19th Annual First Responder of the Year luncheon and awards ceremony.
Organizers say the purpose behind the memorial was to remember those who have passed away and to honor those still serving.
"It gives us an opportunity to showcase those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and it's also an inspiration to the rest of us to be better at our jobs and do our best," Sergeant Quinton Hollis with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office said.
Following the ceremony, first responders were treated to a free lunch.
