Hurlburt Field evacutes aircraft to avoid Hurricane Irma

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - According to officials at Hurlburt Field, out of an abundance of caution and due to the potential of 25 to 40 knot winds from Hurricane Irma, Hurlburt Field leaders have called for the evacuation of aircraft.

They say aircraft evacuated will be taken to Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, until potential for bad weather is over.

Officials say personnel will not be evacuated for the storm.

Officials also say if they are called upon, they are ready to support relief operations in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, state and local authorities, and international partners.
