PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Hurricane Irma is now down to 100mph and continues to move to the north over central Florida. A gradually turn to the NW is expected tonight, but it is also expected to stay over land and gradually pass east of Tallahassee Monday morning as a Cat 1 hurricane. It will continue to weaken to a tropical storm over Southwest Georgia.
The peak time for impacts here in our area will be Monday morning and afternoon. We are still expected close to tropical storm force winds of 40mph with gusts to 50 mph. Rainfall amounts will range from 1-4" over our area with the smaller amounts farther west.
Winds will die down Monday night and the sun will return in abundance for Tuesday.
A tropical storm warning remains in effect from Indian Pass to the Walton/Okaloosa Co line and a hurricane warning is in effect from Indian Pass eastward.
