PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Out of the five office seats in Panama City, Commissioner Ward 1 and Commissioner Ward 4 are up for grabs.
Commissioner John Kady currently holds the Ward 1 seat, but as of Tuesday afternoon, he has an opponent.
"If you look at what we've done with our parks, you look at what we've done with our sports fields, you look at some of the things that we're doing downtown with the re-street landscaping, it all has moved towards attracting business and we see it starting to happen," said John Kady, Panama City Commissioner Ward 1 Incumbent.
Jenna Haligas made her formal announcement Tuesday.
"I think what you can see is, you're going to see a stronger sense of community, there's going to be communication between the city and the people that they represent. I think you're going to see a lot of progression. I think you're going to see movement and businesses, hoping to see a lot more partnership with schools and churches and non-profits," said Jenna Haligas, Panama City Commissioner Ward 1 Candidate.
Kady and Haligas will be working on their campaigns for the next nine weeks or so.
The deadline to register to vote is on March 20th. Election day is on April 18th.
