Local bookkeeper accused of stealing more than $20,000

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bay County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a local bookkeeper after she allegedly stole more than $20,000 from her employer.

They say Jacqueline Lassiter, 56, allegedly stole, forged and cashed about 19 company checks from a Panama City business between June 17 and November 22, 2017, at different businesses throughout Bay County.

Deputies say the checks were made payable to Lassiter and she was required to provide proof of identification to cash them. They say she was also seen on surveillance video.

She's charged with grand theft of more than $20,000 and 19 counts of uttering a forged check.
