BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Panama City Fire Department and the Panama City Beach Fire Department are both looking to hire more firefighters.

According to Panama City Fire Chief Alex Baird, applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma and they have to be a state certified firefighter.

He says having EMT certifications is also a plus, but all certified firefighters are welcome to apply.

"We have a technical rescue team, we have a dive team, we have a boat team, our training is unbelievable. I think we're one of the premier departments in the Northwest Florida region. So we really want the best," Chief Baird said.

The application process is about two-weeks long. It includes a physical agility test and a fire tool test followed by a panel of interviews.
