Local oncologist passes away

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - We are learning about the death of a well-known oncologist in Panama City.

According to Debbie Ward, Marketing Director of Bay Medical Sacred Heart, Dr. Frank Lu passed away Friday.

He served as an oncologist and hematologist in Panama City.

"We can confirm that oncologist Dr. Frank Lu did pass away on Friday night January 26 at Bay Medical Sacred Heart. We are deeply saddened by his untimely death and the loss of this highly respected physician. We are not able to confirm a cause of death at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Lu’s family," Ward said.

"It is with great sadness that Florida Cancer Affiliates announces the untimely death of our friend and colleague, Dr. Kun “Frank” Lu.
Dr. Lu set the standard for hard work, patient devotion, and medical judgment. Dr. Lu cared dearly for his patients, family and staff.
Our deepest sympathies are with his family, friends and the many patients he served. He will be sorely missed.
