PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - This Friday evening shortly after sunset the moon will rise over the eastern horizon and pass through the outer shadow of Earth. Earth's outer shadow is called the penumbra, and it will make the moon appear darker than normal. It will not be as spectacular as an eclipse when it passes through the umbra of the Earth's shadow, but you will notice the darkening.

5:22pm - moonrise
6:44pm - moon rising and mid-eclipse
8:55pm - moon exits penumbra
