Man accused of killing local businessman sentenced for Santa Rosa County couple's murder

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The man accused of killing a Bay County business man in 2014 has been sentenced for two other murders in Santa Rosa County.

Santa Rosa County court records show Derrick Thompson was sentenced to two life sentences for the murders of Steven and Debra Zackowski Thursday.

In July 2014, Thompson killed the Zackowskis in their home. Earlier this month a jury found Thompson guilty of two counts of first degree murder.

Authorities believe a few days after Thompson killed the Zackowskis, he killed and robbed local business owner Allen Johnson.

Thompson will be at the Bay County courthouse in February for a pretrial hearing.
