SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Santa Rosa Beach man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading out to charges related to stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s mom in June of 2016.
Joseph Moll, 34, was sentenced Thursday as a habitual felony offender to life in prison.
Moll went to visit his ex-girlfriend at her mother's home but was confronted by the mother about being there on June 16, 2016.
Authorities say, that's when Moll pulled out a pocket knife and cut her throat twice.
Investigators say, he told them he was "going for the jugular vein" and was "going to wait for her to bleed out." He also said “I tried to kill her” and told deputies that he had tried to kill the victim because he thought she was trying to keep her daughter away from him.
