Man sentenced to prison for trying to get victim in case killed

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A man convicted of trying to get a victim in a crime he was suspected of killed will spend 30 years in prison.

In July a jury found Darell Robinson guilty of solicitation to commit first degree murder.

In early 2016, Robinson was arrested and put in the Okaloosa County Jail pending trial on a charge of unlawful sex with certain minors. While in there, Robinson tried to get his cellmate at the Okaloosa County Jail to kill the victim in his pending case in exchange for being bonded out of jail.

The cellmate reported it to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. The cellmate agreed to wear a recording device to capture conversations. In the recordings, Robinson was heard describing way the murder could happen including poisoning, overdosing or shooting. He also told his cellmate where the victim lived, where the victim spends time, where the victim went to school, and ways to make a silencer.
