CHIPLEY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The start of school is usually a happy and exciting time, but for some students, it can mean the return to a place where bullying happens all too often.
That's why instructors at one martial arts studio in Washington County are doing its part to lend a helping hand.
Trinity Martial Arts on Brickyard Road in Chipley will be offering free anti-bullying workshops for school-age children and self-defense workshops for teens and adults.
The studio partners with local schools to help fight bullying and other dangerous behaviors.
"Kids, and not even just kids, but adults come in and gain that self-confidence through martial arts training and it stops the bullying before the physical side ever even starts," Trinity Martial Arts owner and master instructor Jason Smith said.
The free workshops will take place on the first Saturday of every month. The first class is scheduled to start in September.
The exact dates will be advertised on Trinity Martial Arts' social media pages.
