Medical Monday: Coping with holiday anxiety and depression

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The holidays are full of celebrations, but for some, the holiday season can lead to depression or anxiety. Nurse Practitioner Amy Smith from Gulf Coast Regional Medical Care stopped by the studio for some practical advice.

Smith said it's important to recognize the triggers of stress and anxiety.
"We put unrealistic expectations on ourselves during the holidays," explained Smith.

Setting realistic expectations, taking time for relaxation and seeking professional help when needed are important in controlling anxiety and depression.
