Miramar Beach man appointed to FSU Board of Trustees by governor

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Friday, Governor Rick Scott announced the reappointment of Kathryn Ballard and the appointment of Jorge Gonzalez to the Florida State University Board of Trustees.

Kathryn Ballard, 53, of Tallahassee, received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. She has previously served on the Board of the Florida Center for Performing Arts and as a board member for the Florida State University College of Human Sciences. Ballard is reappointed for a term beginning January 12, 2018, and ending January 6, 2023.

Jorge Gonzalez, 53, of Miramar Beach, is the president and chief executive officer of the St. Joe Company. He also serves as a member of the FSU Panama City Campus Development Board, and the Bay County Economic Development Alliance. Gonzalez received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Florida State University. He is appointed to fill a vacant seat for a term beginning January 12, 2018, and ending January 6, 2021.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
