PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Two people were wounded in an officer-involved shooting in Panama City Wednesday night.
Panama City officials say officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home on Clay Avenue.
They say the suspect had barricaded himself inside the home and his wife told them he had weapons.
Members of the SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams responded to the home and attempted to negotiate with the man. They say he then exited the home and began shooting at officers, who returned fire.
We're told one officer received a minor flesh wound and the suspect was taken to the hospital to undergo surgery for a gunshot wound.
As is protocol for officer-involved shootings, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be investigating.
