Okaloosa County opens cold weather shelters

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Since the cold weather is lingering, Okaloosa County Department of Public Safety officials announced they're opening cold weather shelters in both ends of the county.

Helping Hands on 428 McLaughlin Street in Crestview will open as a daytime shelter in northern Okaloosa County. It'll be open from 6 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

The Community of Christ Church on 398 First Avenue will be open at night from 6 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday.

In the southern half of the county, One Hopeful Place on 1564 Percy Coleman Road in Fort Walton Beach will serve as a shelter 24/7 until it's not needed.
