Crestview man arrested in domestic violence related shooting

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE 02/05/2018 7:45 p.m.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has sent some corrected information.

Two people are in the hospital after a Crestview man allegedly beat his wife and shot at her, his son, and his daughter-in-law.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, 72-year-old Thomas Davis Sr. hit his wife with a wooden leg broken off a coffee table on Monday. He then fired a shotgun at her, his son, and his daughter-in-law as they ran away.

His daughter-in-law Sharon Davis was struck by a ricocheting pellet in the neck.

His wife suffered injuries from being hit with with the wooden leg.

Both are recovering at North Okaloosa Medical Center.

Deputies were first told Davis fled into the woods after the attack. Another witness said Davis was still in the home.

Deputies set up a perimeter and began to search the area. Davis was spotted in the home and came outside after deputies ordered him to.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Crestview area man Monday afternoon in connection with a domestic violence related incident at a home on Barnes Road.

Deputies say Thomas Davis, Sr., 72, battered his wife, then fired a shotgun at her and two others as they ran away from the home. They say his wife was struck by a pellet in the neck and is undergoing treatment at North Okaloosa Medical Center. Another woman reportedly suffered minor injuries in the escape.

Deputies were initially told Davis ran into the woods but another witness thought he was still inside the home.

Deputies set up a perimeter and began to search while other deputies watched the house. They Davis ultimately came out of the home and surrendered. Charges are pending.

UPDATE 02/05/2018 4:30 p.m.:

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office says one person is in custody in connection with a domestic violence related shooting. Deputies say one person was struck and the other injured possibly during the attempt to escape the home on Barnes Road.

They say the individual was found inside the home and taken into custody without incident after deputies were given conflicting reports about whether or not he was in the home or had fled into woods.
