One dead after Graceville fire Wednesday morning

GRACEVILLE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE: Wednesday, March 7 6:33 p.m.

A Graceville patrol officer discovered the shed fire at the corner of Sanders Avenue and Cliff Street at around 2:30 Wednesday morning.

The Graceville and Campbellton fire departments, along with Jackson County Fire Rescue extinguished the fire, which had spread to the adjoining house.

Officials said they discovered the body in the shed after the fire was put out.

They said they believe the victim was the only one living at the residence.

Officials said the death does not appear to be suspicious at this time.


One person is dead after a fire in Graceville.

According to Graceville police, an officer found the fire and the body around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday near the corner of Sanders Avenue and Cliff Street.

The Graceville Police Department, Graceville Fire Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the State Fire Marshal's Office all responded to the scene.

The victim's name has not been released at this time.

The Graceville Police Department and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating.
