PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Some local veterans can no longer pick up prescriptions where they normally do.
Officials at the Department of Veterans Affairs Gulf Coast Veterans Health System said prescriptions at the Panama City community based outpatient clinic will now be transferred to a local pharmacy for those with immediate needs.
Routine prescriptions will be sent by mail from Biloxi.
"We believe changing the way we do business will help us provide better service to our veterans," Director Bryan Matthews said.
He said said most clinics nationwide follow similar procedures.
The veteran's primary care physician will offer detailed instructions on how to fill prescriptions. Pharmacists will remain at the clinic to help manage chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
