Ponce de Leon home destroyed in fire

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Ponce de Leon home is destroyed after a fire Thursday night.

According to the Walton County Sheriff's Office, fire rescue crews were dispatched to a 911 call around 5 p.m. Thursday at 148 Rushing Road for a residential fire.

Firefighters had to pull back because of the large amount of fire and possible collapse of the building. It took them about an hour to contain the fire.

Argyle Volunteer firefighters also helped in the fight. No residents were home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported on scene.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross was called out to assist the residents.
