Qualifying opens for primary elections

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Primaries are right around the corner, but qualifying is already underway.

In Bay County, some of the offices up for re-election include county commission and school board.

Those interested in running for office in any Florida county have until Friday at Noon to qualify.

Bay County Supervisor of Elections Mark Andersen said the earlier the better.

"Begin to get knowledgable. If you're interested in an office, call our office now," he explained. "Don't wait until Friday at 7 in the morning and try to accomplish anything by 12 [in the afternoon] because it's just tougher to do."

Andersen said he can always use extra help at the polling locations.
