PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The School Board Chair and Vice Chair were appointed during Tuesday afternoon's Bay District School Board meeting.
Ginger Littleton, the current School Board Chair, was re-elected by the board.
This will be her second consecutive year serving as Chair.
She said the vote of confidence from her colleagues was humbling and she is looking forward to the job she considers a challenge and a pleasure.
"We've all been through a lot together. This is the same board that had the shooter in the boardroom, so we have utmost respect for each other, we work well together, we don't always agree, but we always try to do the right thing," Littleton said.
School Board member Steve Moss was elected as Vice Chair. He told us this will not be his first time serving in a leadership role in the district.
He explained, traditionally, the Chair and Vice Chair serve two years in a row. After those two years, the Vice Chair can rotate up to be the Chair.
Moss said his first goal as Vice Chair is to support the Chair and fill in for her when needed, as well as improving the district's rating.
"One of my main goals is to make sure Bay District Schools achieves an 'A' rating this next school year. It's been several years since Bay District Schools has been an 'A'-rated district. We were only four points away last year from getting that 'A' rating," Moss said.
