UPDATE: Lockdown at Shalimar Elementary lifted

SHALIMAR, Fla. (WJHG/EWCP) - UPDATE: 12/14/2016 8:55 a.m.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's office, the precautionary lock down at Shalimar Elementary school has been lifted.

Officials say the k9's concluded as secondary sweep of the area around 8:20 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The person was described to OCSO as black male, approximately six feet tall, thinly built and approximately 18 to 20 years old. He was reportedly wearing a gray shirts and stocking cap and carrying what appeared to be a long gun.

Officials say there have been no additional reports of anyone matching that description in the area.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has placed Shalimar Elementary School on a precautionary lock down Wednesday morning.

A parent reported seeing a suspicious person, who appeared to be armed with a weapon, in an area near 12th Ave. around 7:40 a.m.

Deputies are on scene and are searching the area. No contact has been made with anyone suspicious at this time.
