Shalimar woman indicted for first-degree murder and tampering with evidence

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Shalimar woman accused of killing her husband has been indicted by an Okaloosa County Grand Jury.

According to State Attorney Bill Eddins' Office, Barbara Wozniak was indicted for first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of her husband, Alfred Wozniak.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call at the Shalimar home on November 15th. Deputies say when they searched the house, they found Alfred Wozniak's body in a closet behind a newly constructed brick wall.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies say they got a tip from the Wozniaks' grown children saying Barbara told them she shot her husband in self-defense, but the Medical Examiner's report determined Alred Wozniak had been shot in the left temple. According to investigators, the trajectory of the bullet through the victim's skull is not consistent with Barbara's statement to her children.
