PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - State Avenue is about to become more pedestrian friendly.
According to Panama City Officials, a six-foot wide sidewalk is set to be built on the west side of State Avenue from 19th Street to 23rd Street.
The project also includes an asphalt parking area for the Bay County Conservancy Park walking trail and a new aluminum pedestrian bridge near Walmart.
Ward Three Commissioner Billy Rader says the overall goal of the project is safety. He says construction has already kicked-off.
