Teams revved up their pillows for the annual bed races

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The 2018 Bay County Chamber block party and bed races are a wrap.

Tuesday night, hundreds came out to cheer on their favorite organization and see who took home the prize.

Eight teams participated seeking a claim. From best design, to best team name, the title everyone wanted to take to bed was for being the fastest.

Organizers said the event is to have fun and give back to the community.

"This is the only event that we have every year where it's open to the entire community and it's free so that the community can come and see what the Bay County Chamber is about and see how we build a better Bay for them," Bay County Chamber Vice President of Communication, Taylor Smith said.

Bay Medical Sacred Heart came in first, Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center took second and Lynn Haven Fire Department took third.

The award for Best Bed Design went to Gulf World's "Dazzling Dolphins." The award for Best Team Name went to Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center's team, "Precious Cargo."
