HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG) - This week's Golden Apple goes to a teacher who has a seemingly endless passion for science. Congratulations to Brittany Brown of Ponce de Leon High School.
When educators are passionate about their jobs, it's hard for their students not to notice. All that positive energy in the classroom can be contagious.
"She's just every energetic," said Student Autum Frutos Creamer. "If she shows us she's excited about it we get excited too."
Brown teaches biology at Ponce de Leon High School in Holmes County.
"There's nothing more exhilarating than a kid saying they love science," said Brown while smiling. "It usually dies by the time they get to high school. But we've got technology and equipment just to bring back that spark."
Incorporating modern technology into the lesson is an important part of Brown's classroom.
"Well it's a different world now so paper, pencils have kind of gone away," said Brown. "I'm very fortunate to be able to have access, through grants, to iPads."
Brown says she see's the future when looking at her students. She hopes some of her passion for the planet will rub off on them.
"The environment is really important to me. So I hope they can take a second to think twice about either throwing trash outside or recycling and their impact on the world."
