Good Thursday morning everyone!
We had a couple scattered showers before sunrise this morning. However, not much else is passing through our skies under mostly cloudy conditions early on. We'll once again see a flare up of storms heading toward the midday, so keep the rain gear handy!
Temperatures start out in the low to mid 70s for the morning drive and we'll certainly be warming quickly. That heat and humidity combined will produce enough lift to get scattered convection popping up around the coast around 10 or 11am.
In the mid levels of the atmosphere our small trough did not get picked up by the jet stream yesterday. And instead will help to focus more lift across the southeast in the midday hours. So we'll see another robust round of thunderstorms develop through the midday and could even see a few showers linger through the afternoon.
Our ridge building across the Eastern US will actually deflect this small mid level low down around the base of the ridge tomorrow. So we'll see it stick around for another day before it washes out. Friday will wind up looking quite similar to today with numerous scattered showers and thunderstorms through the midday and afternoon. By the weekend when this low finally washes out our rain chances will drop off, and become few and far between, but not completely absent.
For today, mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs today will reach the mid to upper 80s. Your 7 Day Forecast will have another stormy day tomorrow before things shape up by the weekend.
