JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Jackson County Sheriff's officials say they got a tip Tuesday that 23-year-old Te'Quayis Brigham was sexually involved with a 16-year-old student.
They say some of these sexual interactions may have happened on school grounds and while at a track meet out of town.
According to sheriff's officials, Brigham confirmed his relationship with the student.
School district officials say they are conducting their own investigation, as well as working with the Sheriff's Office.
"It's certainly an embarrassing situation for the school system, but we will deal with it appropriately and promptly," Jackson County Superintendent of Schools Larry Moore said. "It's our goal to provide the safest environment for our students and our staff."
Sheriff's officials say a second student may have also been sexually abused by Brigham, but he denied that.
Brigham is facing sexual battery charges.
