Walton County Sheriff's Office graduates six from welding program

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - For the last six weeks men in a different kind of uniform have been spending their time learning how to weld.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday that six inmates from the Walton County Jail have graduated from the new welding program.

Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson says the program is a way for inmates to learn a new trade and reduce the risk of becoming repeat offenders.

The six men were given a certificate of completion for the course and the Sheriff's Office is working to help with job placement after they get out.
