Good Wednesday morning everyone!
It's a clear and quiet start over the Panhandle this morning and we'll have abundant sunshine to start off the day. We should see a mainly quiet day on the rain front ahead as well, you can leave the umbrellas at home.
Temperatures under the clear skies have cooled off to the dew point in the low to mid 70s, and we could see some patchy fog. But otherwise it's a pleasant and seasonable start. Despite being another hot and humid day, highs will push above average into the low 90s on the coast to mid 90s inland, it will be tough for any rain to develop.
High pressure is centralized over the Southeast and that will bring sinking motion to the atmosphere as well as some dry air continuing to filter south among the clockwise winds around the high. It's not impossible to develop rain in a scenario like this as we still have our daytime heating and the sea breeze front to provide some lift. But we should see the activity this afternoon show up on radar as very small, and quick hitting showers. I only expect to see a handful of these develop this afternoon.
The next several days will set up like this, and that will also lead toward hotter afternoons under the mostly to partly sunny skies. Highs not only stay above average in the 90s today, but we'll manage to stay in the low to mid 90s through the rest of the work week until this ridge breaks down.
Hurricane Chris reach category2 strength with 105mph sustained winds and movement has begun to the northeast. It will continue to trek off the US East Coast toward the northeast where cooler waters in the North Atlantic will cause the storm to diminish.
The remnants of Beryl continue to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the Bahamas. Steering flow will take these thunderstorms into somewhat conducive conditions where Chris developed far off the Carolina Coast. There's some possibility for development, however, any that does occur will likely not impact any coastal areas.
For today, mainly sunny skies in the morning with some clouds increasing in the afternoon and a slight chance at a stray shower. Highs today will reach the low 90s on the coast to mid 90s inland. Your 7 Day Forecast will feature hot and summery days to finish off the work week with a return to a more summery shot at an afternoon storm over the weekend.
