Woman sent to hospital after crashing into train in Walton County

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Defuniak Springs woman is in the hospital with serious injuries after officials say her car crashed into a train in Walton County Friday night.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Theresa Lynne Williams, 56, was stopped on Irbeck drive just south of Highway 90.

They say she was in front of railroad tracks. As an eastbound train got closer, officials say Williams drove into the path of the train.
The train hit the passenger's side. The car began to spin until stopping on the shoulder of the road, facing south.

She is charged with reckless driving with property damage.

Williams was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and is in serious condition.
