BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Arnold and Mosley return to all-important district play this week at Gavlak in our Personal Attention Dental Center game of the week.
Those two are a part of the five team 5A district 1, along with Bay, Pensacola and West Florida, playing only four district games.
Mosley's loss to West Florida a couple of weeks ago in their first league game and Arnold's defeat against Bay that same night puts both teams in danger of falling to 0-2 in district.
That would not necessarily eliminate them from playoff contention, but it certainly puts them in a very bad spot. That means Friday's game is what you could call do-or-die.
"I mean, they've had losses. We've had losses. And again, none of that really factors into this kind of a ballgame," said Arnold head coach Josh Wright. "We know each other so well and how we prepare. They have a great staff. We have a great staff. Again, it'll be up to which group of seniors shows up Friday night. Which group of committed players show up Friday and, you know, come out with a win."
The Dolphins are in a similar situation.
"Had last week off, were able to get some guys healed up, we were a little banged up," head coach Jeremy Brown told us. "You know we had a pretty rough three week stretch, played some bigger schools, took our lumps. Our kids competed really hard, and you know, you get a week off, I think more than anything we're just excited to get back out on the field and get back into a normal game week type of routine."
Friday's game is set for 7. Mosley is the home team, but it will be at Gavlak on Arnold's campus. It's one of several games we'll feature on Friday Night Overtime.
