Change in football games and tournaments due to possibility of bad weather

BAY COUNTY, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - There's a change in the high school football schedule this week thanks to the possibility of the weather turning rather bad by the end of this week.

The Athletic Directors and coaches for Port St. Joe and Bay are moving their game this week, originally set for Friday night, up to Thursday night.

Bay A.D. Vern Barth sending NewsChannel 7 an email that read "Due to the possible early evacuations and unsure nature of the looming hurricane, we have decided to move the football game up from Friday evening to Thursday evening. It will remain at Gavlak Stadium and will be at 7 pm. We want to be as proactive as possible on this as well as take the safety of everyone involved into consideration."

Bay's coming off a 56-0 win over rival Rutherford last Friday night, so they are 1-1.

St. Joe's 2-0, coming off the 7-6 overtime win over Blountstown Friday, that a great defensive battle.

One other change in the sports schedule this week, Gulf Coast, in an abundance of caution, has cancelled the "Visit Panama City Beach Volleyball Invitational", that event had four three teams joining Gulf Coast, playing five matches Friday and Saturday. No makeup date has been scheduled.
