Bozeman football program goes into coaching search mode

PANAMA CITY, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - The Bozeman football program finds itself going through a coaching change.

Head coach Lyle Messer telling his players early Tuesday morning he has decided to resign that job after a four year run with the Bucks.

Coach Messer confirming to us late last week he had made this decision, but wanted to be able to tell his players himself before the news broke.

So again he met with the guys around 8:45 Tuesday morning to let them know.

Messer followed Loren Tillman in this job following the 2013 season, in which the Bucks were just 2-8. A 1-9 season followed, but then three straight five wins seasons, so an overall mark of 16-22 for the coach.

Coming up later tonight (Tuesday) on NewsChannel 7 at 6 and 10, we'll hear from the coach about his reasons for stepping down at this time.
