Bulldogs brushing up on fundamentals

FREEPORT, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - Freeport head football coach Shaun Arntz and his Bulldogs are spending this week hosting a youth football camp.

The camp is meant to build a bridge from Freeport's high school, to the middle school, and to the youth and rec leagues.

You could find the entire Bulldogs middle school team participating Thursday.

Arntz is stressing the fundamentals to the youngsters so they know what the standards and expectations are once they get on the high school level.

"They get to look forward to being up here with us," Arntz said. "Our players are all here around with them and we're just doing as many drills as we can to keep them moving. Get them used to doing the things you've got to do in football no matter what age level you're at, no matter what position you're playing. Keeping your shoulders up, keeping your chest up, your chin up, safe tackle, form tackling, keeping your hips low, keeping your feet moving, using your hands and all that kind of stuff. So just any kind of drill we can implement that is always a good drill."

You can catch the Bulldogs in action August 24th when they play Vernon.
