Tigers set for second round playoff game

CHIPLEY, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - In high school football, Coach Wilson and his Tigers are practicing this week towards a round two playoff game, or 1A region final, on the road at Baker.

That after the Tigers won their first round game last Friday night at Holmes, a 30-29 overtime victory.

That in a rematch of game from the previous week in which the Tigers lost to the Blue Devils.

The win taking the Tigers to within three games of a possible state championship.

"Well it was a very exciting win," Blake Wilson, Chipley football coach said. "We went into overtime and we made the extra point to win the game. You know the kids were really excited and now we're moving on to play Baker this Friday at their place. It's been good, the kids are really excited, they've been really concentrating and paying attention to what we're doing, you know trying to do all the little things right and trying to carry that over Friday."

As it happens, the game with Baker is another rematch.

The Gators came to Chipley back in mid-October and hung a 41-27 loss on the Tigers.

So again coach Wilson and his team will look to reverse that outcome here in the region finals.

We'll have the highlights of that game for you Friday night.
