Lady 'fins are heading into uncharted waters

LYNN HAVEN, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - The Mosley girls basketball program is now heading into uncharted waters.

Thanks to a 54-51 win Tuesday night over visiting Rickards, coach Jon Mason and his Dolphins are looking ahead to a round three state playoff game, or 6A region final.

That means they are one of just eight 6A teams still playing at this point, and that is a first for this program.

The Dolphins have never made it out of round two in the state tourney.

The 'fins, now 20-5, get to play at home, so a third home playoff game, and it comes against 18-9 Bishop Kenny out of Jacksonville.

"Still working on getting game film," Jon Mason, Mosley girls basketball coach said. "At this point, it's still about what we do. I understand we aren't going to take any team for granted. They're not in the regional final for no reason. So we're going to focus on the things that I've got from a couple of coaches around the area. And if we're able to get game film then we'll be a little more in detailed as well."

Bishop Kenny and Mosley tip off Friday night at 7.

Choctaw hosts Nease in a 7A game.

Port St. Joe and Paxton play Monday night in Lakeland in the 1A state semifinals.
