LYNN HAVEN, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - We have a high school football game still set for Friday, and one of the area teams sporting a two and oh mark in the early part of this season, the Mosley Dolphins.
Coach Brown's team one of the more explosive in terms of offense so far, scoring 42 in a win at Walton, and then racking up 46 last Thursday night in a win over Gadsden.
So 88 points so far, which has to leave a coach feeling pretty good as the 'fins prepare for their first intra-county game this Friday against Rutherford.
"Yeah it's been...and I feel like we've done it against two pretty good defenses," Jeremy Brown, Mosley football coach said. "Our linemen are doing a really good job of getting their hats on other people and finishing blocks. Michael Maddox (our quarterback) is doing a really good job of getting us in the right plays. And our running backs are running hard. You know we've got to continue to work on squeezing the ball and not turning the ball over. And then our wide receivers are making plays."
Brown went on to talk about the rivalry between these two teams.
"In today's system, kids can go to whatever school they want," Brown said. "And you've got so many of these kids that played with each other growing up. And they played with each other in middle school. And you know, heck, some of them played together since they were in high school. They bounced around to different schools for different reasons. I think that's what makes it a lot of fun. There's still something in Bay County about wanting to be that Bay County champion. This is obstacle number one for us, this year."
That Rutherford-Mosley game Friday at Bozeman, set for a 7 o'clock kick. And is one of many we'll feature on Friday Night Overtime.
