PANAMA CITY, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - When it comes to talk of a Bay County high school football team making the playoffs, well at this point of the season, you're not talking about Mosley, Arnold, Bay, Rutherford, or Bozeman.
The only team right now that has a good shot at a playoff berth is the Buc's of North Bay Haven.
Coach Jeff Lee and his team, working this week towards a game with Sneads Friday night, sit at 4-3. And though they've only played one other 4A team, a loss to Rutherford back in week one, the Buc's are sitting at number 4 in 4A Region one, with 31.7 points.
That's two spots ahead of South Walton which has 29.2, and three ahead of Rutherford, which has 28.8.
"That is exciting," Jeff Lee, North Bay Haven football coach said. "That was one of our goals that we wanted to reach this year, was to have a chance to be able to get into the playoffs. And that's all we've been asked to do. We asked these kids to be ready. So now we're here, we've got two games left and the good thing about it is we control our own destiny. We don't have to worry about anyone else with points or whatever, we just win. We've got to win these next two, which in itself, winning is hard to do in football especially. So that's one of the things that's ahead of us this week. The guys have come out really focused this week."
That game with Sneads Friday night at Bozeman, set for 7, and it's one of several we'll feature on Friday Night Overtime.
