Port St. Joe's ready to host the Tigers

PORT ST. JOE, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - A 1A playoff boys basketball team that gave the Rams a pretty good game a couple of weeks ago is Port St. Joe.

Coach Sandy Quinn and his Tiger Sharks finishing out their regular season at 18-7, then won district tourney games over Wewa and Franklin, giving them the 1A-4 crown.

That has them hosting 17-10 Chipley the runner up in district 3.

Winning district titles pretty common for St. Joe, but not necessarily for the guys on this year's team, and coach Quinn says getting that district title trophy certainly means a lot to them.

"It means a lot to these guys," Sandy Quinn, Port St. Joe boys basketball coach said. "A couple of these guys were on the team two years ago when we won the district, and they had the chance to be a part of it. But they were actually freshman at the time, and now that these guys are juniors it's exciting. It's exciting for the school and it's exciting for the community."

Chipley and Port St. Joe tip off Thursday night at 7 eastern.
