South Walton grad Guarachi falls in Wimbledon first round

LONDON, England (WJHG/WECP) - Simply playing at Wimbledon is already a dream come true for Alexa Guarachi.

Unfortunately, her dream came to an end in the opening round of the doubles tournament on Thursday.

Along with teammate and fellow Alabama alum Erin Routliffe, Guarachi made her grand slam debut against the third overall seed, Czech tandem Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova.

Guarachi and Routliffe held their own, serving up five aces in the match compared to just three on the opposing side. Despite the serving advantage and a stellar second set, the Crimson Tide duo fell in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.

Guarachi, a state champion with South Walton, previously played at Wimbledon as a junior a decade ago.
