We're now well into 2008, so how are you keeping up with your New Year's resolutions? If you're like most people, not too good, but one simple resolution busy parents can make any time of year is to find more balance in their lives.

There just isn't enough time in the day! And for busy parents, it’s hard to find the right balance in life. You strive to be more organized, lose weight, make more money, keep up with the house, let alone make time for yourself! But sometimes those good intentions leave you feeling like a failure. That's why it’s important to take charge!

"Delegate. You don't have to do everything yourself. Your spouse and kids can help with chores. Working together also brings family members closer. Remember the great talks you had with your mom while doing dishes?"

Also, try not be to superman or superwoman. Learn how to say a simple little word when asked to take on more tasks.

"Learn to say no! While it's important to volunteer at school and participate in church functions, we don't need to say yes to everything. Think of it this way: every time we say yes, someone else will be denied an opportunity to contribute."

And don't forget the cardinal rule of balance. Make time for yourself. Remember, you can't take care of everyone else in your family if you don't take care of you.
