This week we've been celebrating mother nature and all she has to offer. Tuesday was Earth Day, but everyday you can do a little something green for yourself and the planet by going organic.
We hear about it now more than ever - going organic. Reports say going green is better for your health because it eliminates chemicals and unnatural hormones in many foods we serve our families.
Nancy Babin with On the Coast Magazine said, "Organic food is all natural. There are no artificial substances such as pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, and there is no genetic modification. With organic foods, more nutrients are preserved so you get more health benefits."
But groceries can be expensive, and families on a tight budget might be less likely to turn to organic foods.
"It is slightly more expensive; however, the price reflects the health and environmental benefits of natural foods."
But the cost is coming down as the demand for organic increases.
"It’s not the scarce commodity is used to be even five years ago. Today's organic is affordable and can be found in large supermarket chains to independent grocers. Most grocers now even have organic sections."
