Walton County Commissioners hope the improved drainage will help restore that lake to its natural state.
The contract began work in September and was supposed to have it completed by April 8th.
County officials admit environmental projects like this one sometimes take longer to make sure they're done properly.
But now they're considering their options.
"What we are doing now is there are some clauses in the contract that allow us to do some charge-backs, for lack of a better term, for every day that contract goes over that date that it was supposed to be completed,” said Louis Svehla, Public Information Officer for Walton County.
County officials say they still hope the project will be finished by the end of this month.
