Rollover Accident Ejects Man and Child from Vehicle

WALTON COUNTY-- UPDATE August 24 11:00 p.m.

A Panama City family is in the hospital after a rollover accident on Highway 98 and County Road 283 in Walton County Sunday afternoon.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said a man driving a Ford Explorer was traveling down Highway 98 with his wife and two kids, when another driver in a white Buick was trying to take a left turn onto CR 283, but officials say it was an illegal left-hand turn. The driver in the Explorer was driving at a high rate of speed, and tried to lock his breaks so he wouldn't collide with the Buick.

Unfortunately, the two cars hit, and the Ford Explorer rolled multiple times. The driver and one child were ejected from the car and air lifted to the hospital.

The other two passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries as well. According to FHP officials neither the driver nor the child who were ejected were wearing their seat belts.
