Violent Crimes in Florida are on the rise again. According to FBI the increase in murders and robberies has pushed Florida’s crime rate up 2.3% in 2006.

The numbers also puts Florida on a list of 34 states that seen an increase in violent crimes.

The jump in crime comes at time the Governor and lawmakers are trimming the state budget because of a one billion dollar shortfall.

Grady Jordan of the Gang Investigators Association says the cuts could hurt their fight against violent crime, but that won’t change how they do their job.

“I think any time you’re dealing with budgets and money there is always a concern. We as line officers and officers on the street we’re going to continue to do our job and keep the people safe.”

The FBI says violent crime across the nation has shown an upward trend after being down from 2002 to 2004.
