Boater Rescued by Coast Guard in St. Andrew Bay

A woman was rescued late Tuesday night while clinging to a channel marking buoy.

A call came into the local Coast Guard just after 8 p.m. that a rowboat was being swept out into the bay from St. Andrew Marina by the wind.

Witnesses said the one woman on board appeared to be having a panic attack over the ordeal. The rowboat capsized and threw her into the water.

When the Coast Guard arrived and found the boat, they couldn't find the woman. That is until they started checking buoys in the area.

The unidentified woman was found hanging onto Red Buoy #6 in the bay.

Although she suffered some minor cuts and fatigue, it's thought she'll be okay. The Coast Guard brought her back to shore and paramedics took her to a local hospital for treatment.
